I'm here to tell you that crossing the bridge and moving to the suburbs is not as scary as it sounds...

Moving from the city to the suburbs can feel intimidating, but it does not have to be scary.

I remember the moment I knew our life in Center City Philadelphia needed to change. I was pregnant with my second child and standing in Rittenhouse Square after a grocery run. My three year old was upset and refused to sit in the stroller. The stroller was overloaded with grocery bags and kept tipping over. I was exhausted, overwhelmed, and ready to sit down and rest. The walk home to Graduate Hospital was only ten minutes, but it felt much longer that day. That night, I told my husband I was craving convenience and space, and that it might be time to look at homes in the suburbs.

It was time for a change!

I grew up in South Jersey, but leaving city life was not easy for me. I had lived in Washington DC, Seville in Spain, and Philadelphia for many years. I loved the energy, the walkability, and having friends close by. Still, I realized our lifestyle had changed. What once felt exciting was no longer practical for our growing family.

My husband had long wanted a backyard, a garden, a larger kitchen, space for gatherings, and easy parking. As a local REALTOR and someone familiar with South Jersey, I thought the move would be simple. It was not. I struggled to find clear and helpful information about different towns and neighborhoods online. I wanted to understand schools, land, lifestyle, and community details, but that information was hard to find.

That experience inspired the idea for New Roots South Jersey. I wanted to help families make informed decisions when choosing where to live.

We explored towns like Cherry Hill and Voorhees because they offer easy access to Philadelphia and the Jersey Shore. We ultimately chose Voorhees, where we found the space, privacy, and lifestyle we were looking for. Years later, I truly love suburban life in South Jersey.

I now help others make the same transition with clarity and confidence. I share local insights, neighborhood guides, and real estate education through my work and on my YouTube channel.
